This week we have continued to explore colour and we have enjoyed stories around Elmer and elephants. The children have learnt lots of new knowledge and facts about elephants.
We have created patterns, enjoyed painting elephants and used lots of different materials to create patch work patterns.
In cookery the children made currant buns and in music and movement the children listened to L'Elephant from Saint Saens: Carnival of the Animals. The children made slow and large movements and were very good at using their trunks to make elephant sounds!
In Letters and Sounds our focus has been on stories, characters and seqences of events. On Friday we played Elmer's Day Parade and the children sang the colours back onto the grey Elmer!
Next week our learning will be around ice cream vans and ice creams, a role play game we observe regularly during the session. We will be carrying out lots of experiments and exploring ice cream with all our senses.
