What an explosive week!

What a great week of erupting volcanoes we have had in year 3. Following the presentation of some fantastic homework on volcanoes this week, we have had the opportunity to create a science experiment by erupting some of these using bicarbonate of soda, food colouring and vinegar.

We have used imagery in our writing skills to create our own poems describing an eruption and these have helped us understand some of the real extremes of nature.

Furthermore the children have researched and experimented, hands on, with various types of rocks; grouping them according to their properties of permeability, durability and density.

We have begun to look at healthy eating before we embark on our trip to Morrison’s supermarket this week to sample some Italian food ready to create some Italian recipes of our own…

About Me

Name: Year 3

We have begun our new topic of Chocolate with gusto in Year 3. We are learning the history of chocolate and about its origins.

The children are enjoying discovering characters in our story, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, and imagining their own inventions to be considered by Willy Wonka!
