Bakery delights!


This week we have continued with our learning around exploring materials and observing change. We have done this through a bakery theme. The children have learnt about bakery shops and the different items bakery shops sell.


The children have played imaginatively in the bakery role play areas both in the indoor and outdoor learning environments. We have explored bread dough and cinnamon play dough.


We have learnt about bread and the process from start to finish of how bread is made, starting in the farmers field! The children enjoyed making and exploring bread dough and then on Wednesday we made bread rolls for snack. Over the week the children have made and baked different types of cakes, biscuits, pastries and sandwiches, pretending to be bakers in The Bluecoat School Bakery, we had lots of lovely comments on the different smells that were coming out of the kitchen! 


Next week we will develop our learning further through the story of 'The Little Red Hen' and a theme around the farm.
