Carol Singing at Morrisons
I was very proud of our Y4 class who represented our school by singing Christmas carols in Morrisons at the end of last term. They were supported by some members of our KS2 choir and their singing was lovely and very much appreciated by the customers and staff. Children in Y4 have also enjoyed some very memorable and motivational learning experiences this term and were excited and proud to sing in one of their local supermarkets. As you know, Y4 are leading on a project to create an outdoor learning classroom for our school and they raised a total of £80 towards their fund from this morning’s performance. Well done everyone!
Y5 – Business Enterprise
When planning their creative learning with Mrs Carter this term, the children in Year 5 decided they would like to run a business at the Christmas Fayre and to donate any profits they made to charity. The children set up four different companies, designed their products, sourced and priced ingredients then asked me for loans to enable them to get started!
The children’s ventures have been very successful. Representatives from the different companies came to see me this at the end of last term to tell me about their profit margins and the class raised an overall total profit of £107.75 after costs and expenses. This money will be donated to a charity called Whizz Kidz. This charity was selected in response to a pupil in the class being able to relate the benefits of their good work for his own family. You can visit the charity’s website at www.whizz-kidz.org.uk. I am very proud of Y5 and wish to congratulate them on their achievements from this very successful creative learning project!
