We work in partnership with the sports charity Inspire+ as part of our high quality and motivating sports provision. Inspire+ recently launched it's annual Legacy Tour. The tour this year is focusing on the adventures of Sarah Outen MBE who is one of the charity's ambassadors.
Sarah is currently completing the challenge of London to London via the world using human power only! Sarah started this adventure in 2011 setting out from Tower Bridge London and has since rowed, kayaked and cycled East from London across Europe, Asia and the North Pacific to Alaska.
Sarah is currently cycling from Alaska across Canada and as part of the Inspire+ Legacy Tour, we enjoyed an assembly on Friday which gave the children an insight into Sarah’s adventures and the challenges she faces. The assembly was led by Chris Graves from Isnpire+ and as part of the presentation, we were hoping to contact Sarah via a live satellite call to ask her some questions.
Unfortunately, the technology let us down on Friday, however the children were fascinated by the stories they heard about Sarah's adventures including: an encounter with a shark, her rescue from a tropical storm and meeting a grizzly bear much closer than you would want to! Even though the live satellite link failed on Friday, Sarah e-mailed us to let us know that she will try to speak to us later in her journey!
The Legacy Tour is facilitated by Inspire+ and assisted by the schools Bronze Young Ambassadors and we were really proud of our two amabassadors who did a great job for us again on Friday. Chris left us with a cycle and are now keen to rise to the challenge of how many miles we can cycle between us in 24 hours, to see if we can be the school gets closest to the thousands of miles Sarah will be covering! We will be attemping this challenge on Tuesday and I will update you next week!
