I would like to thank all of our parents and children who attended our Open Event last night. It was a fantastic evening! I was so proud of our choir as they performed some of their favourite songs from the Young Voices concert for our visitors. Our new vocal coach, Craig Saggers also joined us and led the performance. The impact of being coached by Craig is already evident and the children's singing really impressed everyone! One parent commented how listening to them had given her 'shivers'. I was also able to tell the children that we will be going to the Young Voices concert again in January 2015 which led to a cheer of appreciation from them all!
We then moved to open our new literacy Gallery exhibition which had been created by our Y3 class. The Gallery display is amazing. The children in Y3 performed a dragon poem perfectly which had a surprising twist for me at the end! The Gallery was then declared open by Y3 and our parents and other visitors were able to enjoy the fantastic writing the children have produced this term.
There were also lots of other exciting opportunities for parents to enjoy practical science, creative workshops and to enjoy displays of quality work from every class in the school.
Mrs Martin also brought in some of her collection of exotic pets and the children and adults had the opportunity to meet snakes, lizards and a giant tortoise! I enjoyed meeting the python up close until he started to wrap himself around my arm at which point I was happy to hand him back! More photos of this event will be in the Gallery section very soon.
