Reading for Pleasure!

It was a delight to see our Reception children visiting our wonderful library this week! Mrs Thomas, our librarian, welcomed groups of Reception children and it was a pleasure to see their excitement and enjoyment as they explored the book collection and shared stories together. I look forward to seeing them as regualr visitors to the library during the coming months and years as they develop their love of reading for pleasure!

Nick Boles, MP for Grantham and Stamford visits our library to read to children

We also welcomed Nick Boles, the British Conservative MP for the Grantham and Stamford constituency to our library on Friday 27th February. Nick shared stories with children from Y1 to Y6 in the library. He was a great role model and promoted an enjoyment of reading for pleasure with them as he read extracts from various fiction books during the sessions. One of our key aims for the library is to invite members of the community into our school to read with the children. Our librarian, Mrs Thomas has arranged for many visitors to join us in recent months and these shared story sessions, highlight to the children the pleasure of reading and how important reading is for their learning and achievement. I would like to extend my thanks to Nick for joining us on this occasion. The children greatly enjoyed meeting him and were keen to find out more about his role as their local MP and his remit in our Government.
