The Sunbeams finished off their focus on spiders by going on a spider hunt in the garden. They found lots of lovely webs and some big spiders. They were so excited to find the biggest spider in nursery , sitting in the sink!
We welcomed two new Sunbeams , they have settled well and have enjoyed exploring and joining in with our nursery rhyme this week, Hickory Dickory Dock. They made finger puppets and clocks and they used them as we did the actions to the rhyme. Their favourite version of the rhyme includes an elephant that is too big to go on the top and he breaks the clock. We spent time looking at different sized animals . The children listened to the story Dear Zoo and then used the props to retell the story and decide which ones were big and which ones were small !
The children had shown an interest in colour mixing . We looked at the Mouse Paint story and mixed our own colours. They were able to observe the changes and they explored the paints with their hands and different tools.
The children have spent lots of time looking after the teddy bears in nursery. Next week we will do lots of bear activities, including learning new songs and rhymes and taking our bears out on a picnic.
