This week we have learnt all about spiders after the children found a VERY big spider crawling across the floor! We have learnt that spiders have 8 legs and sometimes 8 eyes. We have watched spiders spin webs and made our own, we have researched what spiders webs are made of and why spiders spin webs. We were really interested to find out that a spider keeps her babies in a cocoon just like the caterpillar that turns into a butterfly.
Lots of our learning has been around the number 8, the letter sounds 's' and 'p' and the colours black and orange. We have explored pumpkins, sensory dough and Autumn themed sensory trays. We had great fun 'catching balloons' and scooping apples in the water tray.
We have developed our motor skills while exploring spaghetti and laces. The children carefully used the tweezers to find the hidden bugs and spiders. It was really tricky when the children used their finger tips to pick up the confetti and place the pieces into the couldrons!
The children have been developing their language skills while exploring a variety of materials and natural oblects. There are lots of spider plates and puppets crawling their way around nursery!
It was lovely to see so many of you at our Halloween disco and we hope you have a lovely half term.
