This week our learning has focussed around Guy Fawkes and Bonfire Night. We have discussed the story and talked about the different morals surrounding the story. We know that Guy Fawkes was cross with the rules King James was putting in place, we have thought about why some rules are important and the rules that we do not like!
The children have listened to sounds and thought about sounds they do and do not like. We have listened to firework sounds and represented them through our voices and instruments. We created our own pieces of firework music and played them to each other.
The children have explored the firework theme through water, dough, sand and a firework mark making tray. We have focussed on the 'f' sound and learnt a new number rhyme with a rocket focus.
On Wednesday the children were really excited to take part in our bonfire party. We enjoyed singing songs around the 'bonfire' and then had hot dogs, chocolate sparklers and catherine wheels. The children then watched a firework display on the interactive white board. Over the week we have learnt about keeping safe while watching fireworks.
For snack on Friday the Reception children made us pumpkin soup. it was delicious!
