I am really proud to reflect today on our first ‘Celebration of Learning’ event of this school year, which took place last Thursday. We enjoyed a wonderful evening as a school community. I was overwhelmed by the number of parents and other visitors who attended the event. The support for the celebration was really motivational for the staff and all of the children who were so proud to showcase their learning achievements for everyone. We also enjoyed an excellent performance by our Young Voices choir of one of the songs they will be singing at the concert in January. I would like to thank all of the children for their efforts in preparing for the evening and our staff team for their hard work and commitment to our celebration events.
In particular, I would like to extend my thanks to Mrs Carter and our Y6 class for opening our new Gallery exhibition in style! There is some amazing work on display in the new Y6 ‘Terrible Tudors’ Literacy Gallery. If you were unable to attend last Thursday, I do hope that you find some time to come into school and enjoy the Gallery exhibition.
There will also be lots of wonderful photographs from the evening on the gallery section of our school website for you to enjoy from tomorrow.
We are intending to offer children in our KS2 classes, the opportunity to attend an after school fencing club from January 2016. The club will be run by Premier Sport who currently provide our high quality after school football provision. Lee from Premier Sport came into school on Friday afternoon and all children from KS2 had the opportunity to take part in a trial session. The children appeared to be very motivated during the sessions and judging by their responses afterwards, there will be many of them keen to develop their fencing talents when the opportunity arises in the new year!
