Last week the Sunbeams opened their own train station. We had lots of fun taking on different roles . Some children were keen to drive our Thomas train , others wanted to sell tickets and some were happy to be passengers in the coaches! The train theme gave us lots of opportunities to use size and positional language. We set up small world activities with different types of trains and the children pretended to be trains , going under bridges and through tunnels.
We looked at non fiction books to learn about different types of trains and what they are used for and we sang lots of new train songs !
The warm weather also meant that were able to go on the picnic that we'd planned . Before we went the children made sandwiches and chose a story to read. We had a lovely time !
